Cooperation of local government with social economy entities in the area of healthcare

Summary/Abstract: Social economy implies the possibility of achieving social goals with economic methods. This idea is developed in many European Union countries through the support for reconciling economic growth with efforts to reduce social inequalities including access to the health care system. In the Polish political system, local government units should also take responsibility for actions in the field of healthcare. The thesis, based on the nationwide survey, describes the cooperation of local administration of social economy entities in the field of healthcare with the division for treatment, prevention, rehabilitation and health promotion. It evaluates the impact of non-profit sector on the health of residents in the jurisdiction of the authorities, both from the point of view of public officials as well as employees and NGO activists.
