Determination of demand for fodder and padding materials for horse riding centers

Summary/Abstract: Equitation is a rapidly growing area of activity of many societies, and in this area the most popular form of activity is horse riding centers. They offer services for a wide spectrum of clients. The most popular are horseback riding and hotel services for horses. In order to create appropriate conditions for the functioning of the center and horse staying, it is necessary to provide adequate quantities of fodder and padding materials. Determining their appropriate amount is an important part of management. Despite the individualization of nutrition and living conditions of individual horses and scientific methods of analysis of demand for individual components, in practice simplified calculation formulas are needed. The proposed formulas for calculating the appropriate amount of fodder and padding use the average size of objects and the number of horses. Their big advantage is the flexibility and the possibility of proper planning system of cooperation with suppliers, taking into account their own capabilities. They are not perfect, but sufficient for the functioning of even small entities, which do not employ specialists in the field of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine.
