Summary/Abstract: The paper relates to the evaluation of profitability of a repair of a vehicle damaged during traffic. Court decisions and opinions of law science representatives are taken into account in this study. This analysis of liability principles of insurance company was performed in connection with mandatory car insurance. It was critically assessed that car renovation is unprofitable, when repair costs are approximately 70–80% of a vehicle value before damage. In a result of restitution of profitability damaged car, it was found that investigation of repair profitability should be made individually in each case of traffic damage. The opinion, whether the car renovation is economic and justified, should cover different economic criteria such as: a price of a new car, repair costs, and a possible value of compensation.
