On the paths of translation semiotics with Peeter Torop

Summary/Abstract: The present special issue of Sign Systems Studies, “Semiotics of Translation and Cultural Mediation”, brings together a collection of papers written on translational and mediational aspects of various cultural phenomena and on semiotic and cultural aspects of translation. Most of the articles are based on presentations delivered at the conference “Culture in Mediation: Total Translation, Complementary Perspectives” dedicated to Peeter Torop’s 60th birthday in November 2010.
