Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the issue of the factors suggested for explaining the difficulty of the various categorical syllogisms, systematizing them in four major categories (factors linking with 1. the logical type of a syllogism or with the involved reasoning processes; 2. the premises' information coding or interpretation; 3. the kind of participants investigated: experts or novices; 4. the cognitive function of a syllogism, which is a personal proposal) and identifying their shortcomings. After reviewing them, it is suggested as a final conclusion that a new perspective is needed, based on the selection and integration of the various explicativ factors.
