Self-Image and Moral Development

Summary/Abstract: The relationship between self-image and moral development was relatively ignored in the scientific literature, and still little is known in that respect. The present paper is meant to be a contribution in that direction. It presents a systemized review of some of the most important existing studies that have direct or indirect relevance for the above-mentioned topic in order to facilitate the understanding of the global picture of what is known and what is not known about the relationship between the self-image of a person and her/his moral thinking and moral behaviour. Based on the gaps existing in that global picture, several directions for the future research of that relationship were identified and proposed, considering that they could be useful in filling those gaps.
