A Bishop as a Successor of the Apostles: Point of view of the Siberian Metropolitan Ignatius (Rimsky-Korsakov)

Summary/Abstract: This article presents the perception of ministry of the known church leader and writer of the last part of the 17th century, Bishop Ignatius (Rimsky-Korsakov), Metropolitan of Tobolsk. The Siberian is considered on the basis of a wide range of materials, including unpublished sources. He understood his work as a continuation of the Apostles, and tried to express his work externally in apostolic form, in particular in travelling throughout the diocese and sending letters.
