Summary/Abstract: In the “Pushkin House” (St. Petersburg) is yet unpublished manuscript of Maciej Stryjkowski’s “The Battle of Ula” poem (near the River Ula, 1564). A poem describes events of the Livonian War. The text of the poem contains allusions to ancient history. Simultaneously, the poem creates an image of the Fatherland. The concept of the Fatherland is inseparably with a gentry (szlachta) freedoms.
