«Lithuania» and «Rus'» of the 13-16th Centuries as Concepts of the Belarusian Historiography

Summary/Abstract: The problem of ethnopolitical structure of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in a historiography has already history duration 150 years. In a historiography of the 19th century existed as a whole adequate understanding about traditional historical borders of Lithuania and Rus'. There were no doubts concerning a finding of Samogitia. The historiography of the 20th century operates with modern concepts of the nation and uses terms «Lithuania» and «Russia», which were developed with ethnography and linguistics. Active discussions on a theme Lithuania and Rus' testifies, that the Belarus history of the late Middle Ages and early Modern Time can be understood as interaction of these two factors. If to clean one of these factors the Belarus history will be absolutely another.
