Summary/Abstract: According to Saint Basil the Great’s teachings on God, we have to take into account two important landmarks: reason and love. This means that knowing God is both something one learns and something one feels/lives. These landmarks are extremely important since there are two dimensions to consider when one gets to know the Lord. Therefore, the rational theological discourse highlights the importance of gnoseological language, and the living in communion with God by means of theological knowledge is an important part of the apophatic experience. There are steps to take when knowing God rationally, using an established gnoseological language, and where all discourse ends the apophatic experience commences. This apophasis is nothing but a way of knowing God in communion with Him.
