Summary/Abstract: The extension of the Albanian medieval dwelling-places and of the Albanian people in the Middle Ages has attracted the attention of many foreign and Albanian scholars. On this theme are written many articles and studies. The Slav scholars on this problem give mistaken conclusions limiting it inside the triangle: Tivar-Prizren-Ohër-Vlorë. Basing on rich archival documents of the Ottoman Empire as well as of the archives of Ragusa, Arbanon extends its limits until Nish, Veles, beyond Shtip. Since the end if the IXth century until the end of the XIV century it remained under Serb domination, baptized by the Slavs according to a toponym of a dwelling-place with the name Kosova. This denomination, after the Battle of Kosova of the year 1389, will include all the space of the ethno-geographical northeastern Arbanon which up to then was known under the name Dardania. In this work the author, prof.dr. Iljaz Rexha, mentions Ptolemy with its geography who uses the form Albanoi for the Albanians since the II-nd century of the new era. According to the author, the Arban medieval dwelling-places convince us for an autochthonous population in Nish, Prokupje, Jeni-Pazar, Bijana Bosht as well as in Mostar, for which write in various works foreign authors. The early autochthonity is argued by the author starting not only from the preservation of the Illyrian denominations since the Middle Ages. Different authors mention it in their works. Also many men’s names mentioned by these authors belong to the old Albanian. With the name Arbanashi i Gentës, Arbanasi in Riekë of Montenegro, Arbanasi – Arbneshi i Krajë-Ostrit and in many other cases are mentioned villages’ names, Albanian dwelling-places with a population where only a minority was of the Moslem faith. Many Albanian authors, starting from the ethnonym Arban, enlarge the medieval Arbanon including even Kosova and Western Macedonia. [...] Arbanos for the people and Albania for the country were preserved during the Middle Ages and were used even in the defters of the Ottoman administration during the XVth century. Dwelling-places with the ethnonym Arbnesh are found also in the spaces of Novi Pazar, in the Novi-Pazar in the Eastern Bosnia, in Filat as well as in other lands of the Southern Balkans.
