The Motivation in Agronomy Terminology on the Term Formation Level

Summary/Abstract: The conceptual - structural motivation of terms in any terminology of different subject fields, is of a special value in the process of elaboration of its lexicon and that of its reflection in the scientific-technical literature, which is directly related with the functioning of terms in a specialized language as an important communication means among specialists. This fact is of great relevance for the terminologies of applied subject fields, such as that the agronomy, in which a prevalent number of terminological units is associated in many aspects with the lexicon of common language and with a lot of different fields of knowledge, close, related or remote to it, such as botany, physiology, biology, chemistry, physics, mechanics, geology etc. It is exactly their conceptual motivation in this respect on the level of term-formation which reveals these links and throws light upon the functional construction of this terminology and shows how it really functions and how it can be evaluated from the point of view of its quality and what should be done for its further perfection. Based on the idea of the conceptual motivation of terms on the level of term-formation in the field of the terminological lexicon of agronomy, a series of classifications are made in order to throw light upon the construction and the functioning of the terminology in question. In particular there are considered those terms which are directly associated with the common lexicon of the field in question which attest its autochthony, such as rrënjë (root), misër (maize), grurë (wheat), the units raised on the level of terms on the basis of common words, such as dhomë (pjalmore) (polen (chamber)), qime (rrënje) (hairs (of root)), vesh (plugu) (moldboard), the terms coined on the basis of the internal developments of this terminology, such as rrënjë : rrënjor - rrënjëzoj - rrënjëzim - rrënjë boshtore - rrënjë xhufkore etj. (root - rootlike - (to) root - rooting - taproot - fibrous root etc.).
