Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on career orientation of university students considering objective factors that determine their career choices. The research was conducted via questionnaire methods. It investigated the development of ideas and attitudes toward respondents’ future profession and currently studied subjects. The sample consisted of students from Czech University of Agriculture, particularly students from Faculty of Business and Economics and students from Faculty of Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resources. The results showed factors influencing the development of ideas about future career. They further surveyed the influence of family tradition on professional involvement. Finally they paid attention to activities students had chosen to fill a possible time gap between completion of high school and start of their current study. A part of the research involved evaluation of possible practical applications of research results in the course of work with future students.
