Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to characterize a specific type of consumer testing, socalled eco-tests and analyze their significance for companies that seek to ensure the satisfaction of environmental friendly customers. This article describes the concept of consumer testing and stresses that, directly and indirectly, it provides protection of consumer rights, and thus facilitates their needs. The paper presents the characteristics of eco-tests, foreign and Polish tests and indicates that they should be one of the main sources of information about the needs of environmentally conscious customers. In its final part there are conclusions.
