Summary/Abstract: For several years now we can observe in Poland the increasing interest in the subject of aware − systematic and planned – actions focused on improving the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of health care services. The most important position in the health care system both in terms of size of funds allocated for this purpose and their functions is stationary therapeutics. Rank and variety of processes in hospitals impose the need to ensure the adequate quality of service. The initiatives of quality improvement connected to international accreditation are designed to provide an environment in which the scope of services provided by the hospital − taking into account the specific capabilities of individual countries − will have maximum benefit for the patient, staff and management. The aim of this article is to initiate research in the field of the influence of accreditation standards on efficiency and effectiveness of hospital’s medical service.
