COMPLEMENTARITIES OF JUP KASTRATI’S ARBËRESHE STUDIES

Summary/Abstract: Jup Kastrati, one of the most distinguished Albanian philologists and personalities of the last century gave a valuable scientific contribution in the field of Albanology. His work in general has helped the overall development of the history of Albanology and scientific research in the field. A special monument in the field of the history of Albanian literature by Professor Jup Kastrati is his manuscript “Studime arbëreshe” (“Arbëreshe Studies”) of 1700 printed pages, as well as Jeronim De Rada’s literary, esthetic, historical, cultural, pholkloric, ethnographic, publicist and philological work with over 3000 pages, which collected and systemized in this content is also a manuscript. These handwritings represent an important interest for the history of Albanian language and literature, both for the angle of study fields: language, literature, history, folklore, ethnology, and bibliography by Arbëresh authors and studies on them as well as for the transcription and transliteration of De Rada’s poems, for their adaptation from Arbërian into the presentday Albanian, for translation from Italian into Albanian, for phonetic interpretation of phonemes in his works, for language editing in both languages of Jeronim de Rada’s work, Arbërian and Italian and their versions, etc.
