Summary/Abstract: The land reform was an epochal event in the life of the Independent Lithuania. Except the retrieval of independence and later, the loss of the independence, no other events changed the structure of Lithuania‘s economical structure and social relations and didn’t strengthen the national resistance as much as the implementation of the Land reform in Lithuania. It turned the villagers, the landless and small landowners into independent farmers and, this way, withdrew the internal danger to Lithuania for a long period. The name of a prominent public character, a priest, a founder of Christian–democratic party and its long– term leader, Mykolas Krupavičius, first of all is related to the land reform implemented in the prewar period. The implemented economical and social reform in Lithuania still seems a gesture of our national genius to change the image of Lithuania, as a bright effort to lift from economical and social inequality into a brighter democratic life. Although many years have already passed, the land reform, as a historical event is still connected with a name of M. Krupavičius because the land reform is considered the most important of all his works.
