Law on Archival Activity in the Republic of Srpska

Summary/Abstract: Passing the Law on Archival Activity represents the most significant step in development of archival activity in the Republic of Srpska. Along with the Law on Cultural Goods, Law on Electronic Signature, Law on Electronic Record and numerous other regulations, this Law should be the coordinated and complete system. It is expected that its consisted putting into effect would give positive effects on further successful development of archival activity in the Republic of Srpska. Law on Archival Activity refl ects the achieved development level of archival activity and contains the basis for its further development and improvement of protection system. The Law represents a powerful instrument for performing all Archives’ tasks and it is in function of making our legislation independent as well as archival activity in whole. This is a basic law for all types of archival records and is very important as development of archival activity will develop in direction of preparing the Archives for overtaking and protection of digital records. At the end, it can be stated that in this Law all universal principles for protection of archival records got their place and significance.
