Summary/Abstract: Until recently, the Middle Paleolithic was almost unknown in the north of the Chernigov district in the middle basin of Desna River. Glacial and post-glacial construction of the region relief resulted in the formation of thick sedimentary deposits covered by loesses of the second half of Valdai. Single findings could not present here the epoch preceding the Upper Paleolithic sites of Pushkary. A surface material (1985) and subsequent findings of a flint bearing horizon (2009, 2011) on the upper terrace of an ancient tributary of the Desna River (Mosolov Rov) provided basis for further field investigations in the Middle Paleolithic occupation in the area.
