Summary/Abstract: The article addresses issues of a cultural layer genesis in the Palaeolithic open-air sites. Cultural layer is a reflection of various taphonomic processes of anthropogenic remains. The initial processes of destruction and deposition of material remains create a cultural layer, compressing the scope of human activity into one horizon embedded in a sedimentary rock. Subsequent geological processes extend the cultural layer, bringing it beyond the horizons created by human activity. An important task of the archaeological research is the separation of these horizons of a single cultural layer.
