Summary/Abstract: The past twenty years have seen considerable changes in the health policy environment around the management of phy - sician-patient relationships. As our health care system continue to change in the new socioeconomic context it faces comprehensive and often unclear regulations. The effect on the physician-patient relationship has been profound and complex. Above all else autonomy, the most important principle of bioethics, empowers patients to challenge physicians‘ knowledge and judgment.
