Summary/Abstract: Even after the accession to the European Union, Romanian civil society still experiences an identity crisis, a moral crisis of the human relations. Civic consciousness is endangered and mass media contributes to this extinction by promoting inappropriate patterns of behavior, or false human models. In spite of the efforts made by the EU to preserve the European spirit, the media globalization leads to a loss of identity, uniformity of taste and eventually all cultural values pass into oblivion. The main objective of this paper is to answer to the following questions: How does the European Union reacts to globalization and its effects? Are the effects of the media globalization felt by the civil society? What are the effects of media globalization on our society?
