Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we employ the fuzzy set theory to show what effects vague words and concepts may have on sentence meanings. To achieve this aim, we discuss interfaces of seven natural language components when more than two elements are integrated. The results suggest that category membership is a matter of degree, that different word classes may convey hedged performatives, that sentences containing modifiers may be true or false to a certain extent, and that valuations for linguistic hedges take context into account.
