Outstanding creators of the polish money

Summary/Abstract: The paper aims at presenting merits of some outstanding reformers who firmly contributed to the development of Polish finance (from the Middle Ages up to World War II). The following issues were covered in the paper: an initial standing of capital, sources and methods of increasing revenues, currency reforms, and distribution of the raised funds. On the basis of his historical analysis, the author of this paper comes to the conclusion that it is free people, living fair and just lives that determine the economic growth. The reformers discussed in the paper were well-aware of the fact that it was sound finance and money that constituted the “spine” of the economy. Financial means were raised by various - often illegal or half-legal - methods. However, the capital collected in such a way was not wasted, having been spent on investment.
