Summary/Abstract: Before discussing the theme posed in the title, the authors clarifies certain preliminary points: how justice is broadly interpreted and why justice on the market is sought; what is fair value as a problem; what ethical lessons can be learned from the history of fair value; what is the specificity of fair value today in the context of global public and market changes. The ethical aspect of fair value is reduced to a set of problems, divided into two large groups. First – ethical issues, related to the responsibility of the various actors on the market, which are defined as „classical“, as far as the correlation between freedom and responsibility is a fundamental principle of morality and ethics. Second – ethical issues arising from the characteristics of today's market (they are only mentioned but not addressed in the text). In the context of the first group some typical ethical problems are presented, related to various responsibilities of the major players on the market (business agents, consumers, and the state), which affect in different ways the factors forming fair value. Separately for each of these, attention is focused on some important ethical details, and conclusions are drawn regarding the need for new solutions and policies concerning fair value in today's reality.
