JDP role in creating periodicals collection of LIC

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents contribution of Journal Donation Project to the creation of periodicals collection of Library Information Center of the Faculty of Economics Sarajevo. Academic libraries play a very important role in modern education systems, so it is their duty to make careful and efficient choice of its periodical holdings, and the identification of present and future needs of library users should be the most important factor in further selections. Considering periodicals importance and quality, libraries need to pay attention to journals' international ranking and recognition. This can be tracked through indexing and citing in relevant sources, such as electronic databases. Library Information Center has enriched its holdings through JDP with significant and internationally recognized journals of well-known publishers such as: Sage Publication, Blackwell, Elsevier, American Marketing Association, etc. Thanks to the Project, we are given an opportunity to acquire some very expensive journals at reduced subscription costs. Library Information Center considers JDP as a way of efficient selection policy in our postwar financial conditions.
