Summary/Abstract: The author discusses Aleksander Wallis’s concept “informational dress”, pointing out the specificity of its application to contemporary post-communist cities. She postulates complementation of the concept with two other notions: imaginative dress divided into historical, mythological and artistic dresses being a sum of imagined cultural prejudices that influence the reception of a particular city; and a perception dress consisting of urban materiality – architecture and information dress, discriminated by Wallis, and patrioticmemorial and anthropological dresses and the phonosphere. Based on this theoretical background, the author points to the specific character of Volgograd, referring to observations of Polish and Russian researchers of the urban space concerning other cities: Lvov and Yekaterinburg.
