Summary/Abstract: Media influence is identified in numerous studies as one of the most important risk factors for development of negative body image and related disorders (eating disorders, muscle dysmorphia, anabolic steroid abuse). The paper presents results from the national representative survey “Health behavior in school-aged children“ (Vasileva et al., 2008) with the participation of 4854 students aged 11-15. Media influence (particularly daily media consumption of TV/DVD, computer games and internet) on self-evaluation of weight, self-evaluation of physical appearance, and attitudes & emotions towards the body, has been analyzed.
