Summary/Abstract: The article gives an account of a discussion that took place in the Poznan Press in December 1922 and that was concerning election and assassination of President Gabriel Narutowicz. The aim of the article is to demonstrate how the same objective event could have been interpreted differently depending on an ideological perspective assumed by particular press titles. Against the background of the press of the time, opinions and arguments from periodicals representative to different political options are being characterized. For the right side of a political scene these are: Kurier Wielkopolski and Przewodnik Katolicki, for the center: Goniec Wielkopolski, for center-left: Przegląd Poranny, for the left: Prawda. Even though the analysis has a character of factual documentation, a conclusion can be drawn concerning a wide spectrum of the represented views proving considerable interpretative capabilities of the press of the time.
