Summary/Abstract: Information – communication technologies changed the reality of information retrieval and it’s usage. Networked society enabled democratization of knowledge but, on the other hand, many ethical and moral issues have been cast on to every person, especially to a librarians. The main problems of digital divide have been presented through out definitions. Statistical informations indicate digital divide of ICT’s, especially Internet. The constant bond of digital divide and global economic, social and political divide have been presented as main reason for impossibility of digital divide closure, that have been considered by technooptimists. The case of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an example of ICT ‘s influence in process of society democratization. The role of libraries and librarians as a active participants in that process, have been considered at the end.
