Summary/Abstract: The twentieth century brought dramatic changes in geography, politics and culture of Eurasian space. The dynamism of these changes was further increased with the fall of communism, especially after the Soviet Union collapsed, in 1991. The emergence of Central Asia’s new states in the former Soviet Union, has put Europe in the face of changes in perception and forced policy-makers from Brussels to a genuine ,,update” on the strategic approach for this area.
