History Science Conference SCIENTIA ET HISTORIA-2011

Summary/Abstract: On 24–25 March 2011, the hall of the Lithuanian Culture Research Institute hosted a two-day annual conference of the Lithuanian Society of Historians and Philosophers of Science. It proceeded with its mission – to analyse and evaluate the development of science in our country in the global context, to develop the historical thought of all branches of science, to evaluate the role of science in culture, to enumerate the key features of development of the knowledge of reality. The part of the history of science distinguished by thematic diversity, exclusive attention to personalities and research of their fields of interest. The reports delivered covered philosophy, sociology, history, medicine, astronomy, geology and other branches of science. Several reports at the conference were dedicated to the scientific heritage of the representative of Lithuanian diaspora, famous American sociologist and culturologist Vytautas Kavolis. Generally, youth took a more active part at the conference this year and delighted by their good theoretical expertise and objective to seek innovations in the fields of philosophy of science and sociology.
