Summary/Abstract: In 18th century Moldavia there are many monastic foundations, the vast majority being monasteries or convents. In large monasteries partly dedicated to the Holy Sepulchre, Holy Mountain and other monasteries, monastic life has undergone some deviation from the line of authentic monasticism, especially since the communities were very small and the abbots were concerned mainly about the welfare of the monasteries which they were dedicated to in Moldavia. Also the 18th century, one that is characterized primarily by instability, the remote places where convents and hermitages were found became the oasis of stability and of a genuine Romanian monasticism.
