Summary/Abstract: The emperor of Austria had a very privileged position in criminal law: Due to his immunity the emperor himself could not commit any crime. On the other hand he was protected in a special way by criminal law. Attacks on him were prosecuted as high treason and insults as breaches of the peace. This article analyses these two crimes according to the Austrian criminal code of 1803.
