Summary/Abstract: The author of the article argues that the conception of cultural sociology of Vytautas Kavolis is synthetic one. Kavolean cultural sociology was formed by way of comparative analytic review of various theories in social sciences and humanities,distinctive approximation of different elements that consolidate common and collateral theoretical principles. Various representatives of sociology, anthropology, and psychology were theoretically and methodologically allied to Kavolis. Weber, Foucault, Durkheim, Dumont, Geertz, Eisenstadt, Elias and Freud are those scholars, whose theoretical and methodological assumptions were analyzed, revised or itemized by Kavolis in one or another period of his studies. The methodological elements of Kavolis’ cultural sociology that are analyzed in the article are comparative analysis, interdisciplinarity, historicity, textuality, structural-energetic methodology, hermeneutical method, cultural documentation, integral investigation of the whole and the detail. These principles are described as the means to structurally organize the Kavolean field of research. The aim of the article is to determine and describe the methodological principles uniting the whole research field of Vytautas Kavolis.
