Summary/Abstract: This study describes a copy of the Slavonic Menaion issued by Božidar Vuković’s Venetian printing press in 1536-1538. Božidar Vuković’s books had been widely circulated and very influential in sixteenth century Slavonic print. Thus, their impact on the quality, the content and the format of the Slavonic books, is traceable to the sixteenth century books printed in Wallachia and Transylvania. Furthermore, the text of Vuković’s Menaion it-self was faithfully reproduced by Coresi, in the two editions issued at Sebeş in 1580. Božidar Vuković’s liturgical book is considered to be the first printed Slavonic Menaion, as well as the most lavishly illustrated in the entire history of Cyrillic printing. The Menologium copy analysed in this article is preserved by the “Mihai Eminescu" Central University Library from Iaşi, in the Special Collections Department, Foreign Books. This copy has marginal notes, written in Romanian and German and dating from the eighteenth and the nineteenth centuries, suggesting a Transylvanian readership.
