Summary/Abstract: This paper is based on the ascertainment that modern approach to education and modern curriculums require a number of new teacher competencies. Formation of professional teacher competencies begins in the process of their initial training at teacher training (pedagogical) faculties. Orientation of teacher training faculties’ cur-riculums towards teacher competencies that help future teachers respond to changed roles in modern society can be determined by analyzing them according to defined criteria and clearly operationalized parameters. Current standards of teacher certifi-cates, among other things, include thorough and generative understanding of learning, development, motivation, and individual differences (Woolfolk, 2000), which are primarily the domain of psychology. The view that psychology has an important role in the formation of professional teacher competencies has directed us to the issue we are addressing
