Summary/Abstract: In this paper the author presents the current condition of education in the Republic of Serbia in the context of international project of implementation of inclusive education. Review of international documents and projects has been made in order to show compatibility of activities in educational sector of the Republic of Serbia with the activities which are going on in other countries. We pointed out that implementation of inclusive education does not completely meet the criteria of generally accepted orientation contained in the concept ,,education for everyone” because of conceptual confusion of this idea and contextual reasons which result in different implementation. In this paper some of the difficulties in implementation of inclusive education are singled out: insufficient financial resources, incompletely trained staff and resistance, insufficient cooperation and coordination of educational sector with other institutions etc. We have perceived dangers that might come out of the current focus of inclusive education on accessibility that is quantity, and a lesser direction towards competence development that is quality of education, especially in countries of lower economic status.
