Summary/Abstract: In the light of a new approach to human resources that defines people as assets, as sources and more than that- they are also much more – they possess a deep essential, innate value in and of themselves, and not just as economically valuable resources, the objective of this paper is to strenghten the importance of performance appraisal management. The second objective of the paper is to give detailed overview of methods and technique that are common in use in this field. Managing performance links individual efforts to the organisational strategic plan thus becoming a segment of monitoring and improving overall organisation performance, and also contributes to the professional development and career development of employees and as such functions as both control and self-control. By analysis methods and techniques of a contemporary concept of performance management, the concept of human resources management acquires a new and natural dimension that must be generally recognised.
