Summary/Abstract: The main goal of the article is to present the investments made by communities’ councils at the moment and in the future in a field of renewable energy and improving energy efficiency. In the first part it is discussed the political and legal environment. Afterwards, it is presented the development towards the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency in municipalities. And later it was noted that the process of transformation taking place in the municipality of investing in renewable energy and improving energy efficiency it is similar and can be arranged in stages.
