The use of selected renewable energy sources in the context of sustainable development criteria

Summary/Abstract: Sustainable development requires a deep restructuring of the fuels and energy sector. The authors present the technical potential of renewable energy sources as well as the limits for the use of primary energy carriers in Poland such as: biomass, geothermal energy and solar energy. The technical and economic potential of renewable energy sources in Poland are identified. The article also analyzes the instruments supporting renewable energy sources, particularly: certificates of renewable energy source, trading green certificates, ecological benefits, certificates of energy and energy sources.
