Changes of international copper markets over the period 1980–2012

Summary/Abstract: The goal of this paper is to present changes in the structure of international copper markets in terms of geographical composition and types of copper products based on a longterm analysis. Attention is focused on international markets of electrolitic copper because of its import share in the global trade of copper. It also analyzes the prices of copper on the London Metal Exchange as well as the reasons of the increase of the stock market index. The author presented KGHM Polska Miedź company as a producer and an exporter comparing it with the global sector of the copper industry.
