Summary/Abstract: This text is dealing with the machiavelli's contribution to the foundation of political sociology. First part is focused on the specific social, cultural and intellectual situation of the late renaissance, the epoch of the machiavelli. The next part considers the machiavelli's thoughts on republic and liberty. The third part is about machiavelli's theory of power. After the consideration of mistery of state and politics as a technology of power, text draws atten­tion to machiavelli's oppinion on human nature and mass behavior. The concluding part is devoted to the machiavelli's importance for political so­ciology. The main point of the text is the statement that machiavelli is more significant as the thinker of republic and liberty, than as the writer of politics in terms of tehnology of power.
