Summary/Abstract: Mircea Marin's article brings into discussion the complex relations established between the concepts of originality and influence in literature as they appear in Harold Bloom's book "The Western Canon"and, as a consequence, the serious gaps in the "canonic list" from the end of it. Far from being a perfect one (Harold Bloom never claimed that) the list fails to assure a righteous presentation of authors and works coming from small countries (here Holland is given as an example), The feeble representation of East-European literature pointed out by the critic.
