Summary/Abstract: An anticorruption mission of non-governmental sectors in the Balkan post communist countries is founded on a relatively high degree of trust of the public which comes from the fact that the activists of the non-governmental organizations “common“ citizens, most often respectable members of the local communities with a strong moral authority, while the manager of these organizations are specialists whose personal and professional integrity can hardly be disputed. The Balkan non-governmental organizations carry out anticorruption activities in a several domains. Campaigns for raising the citizens' awareness about the danger of corruption on democratic system and human rights include public media appearance of the scientists, organizing the discussions, distribution of educational and marketing material and protest meetings so as to draw the attention of the public and make pressure on the government officials. The majority of the non-governmental organizations which deal with corruption problems gather prominent experts from various social fields, enabling advancement of the research activity in this field. Non-governmental organizations in the Balkan countries play a significant part in developing normative predispositions for establishing control over corruption by way of participating in preparation, promotion of the models and the creating proposal of an outline of law and in making pressure on the government and the Parliament for their adoption. Supervising functioning of the adopted anticorruption laws is equally important field of non-governmental action.
