THE ROLE OF THE LEADER IN THE ORGANIZATIONAL LIFE-CYCLE

Summary/Abstract: In dynamic business environments, the success of organization is essentially conditioned by efficiency and ability of the leader to face the challenges of the environment in which he does business. One of the important characteristic of the successful leader is his ability to foresee and initiate changes with no dependence on the life-cycle of an organization. The vision of the future is at the beginning of every life phase of any organization. In every phase of the life-cycle, the structure of power and leadership is different. In this work, the role of the leader in the phases of life-cycle of an organization will be presented. First, general characteristics of the leadership and the leader will be presented. Then, phases of the life-cycle of an organization will be explained and the role of the leader at certain phases will be explained. The goal is to point out that only efficient leadership which results in useful, constructive and anticipated change, is the key factor for the competitor’s advantages and success of the organization.
