Summary/Abstract: The very text presents the scope of the teaching conception of the knowledge of culture taking into account the requirements of the contemporary didactics, including education centred on the education to values. Students’ relationship with art understood correlatively makes it possible for them to recognize and understand universal values hidden in it. They also contain freedom, responsibility and dignity. It is worth emphasizing that the values included in art take on the form of ideas, thoughts, conceptions of mental experiences which well recognized and reinforced, result in shaping desired attitudes and orientations. In other words, the system of values of an individual reveals in the model of life orientations preferred by him/her. Thus, the aim of the cultural education is, among others, to serve the individual in achieving the real possibility of a creative participation in the world of symbolic culture, self-cognition and self-realization.
