Summary/Abstract: The present work aims at finding relevant correspondences between Body Dysmorphic Disorder and the literary context of this novel’s main character, Pecola. The creation of such strong interdependence between a literary character and a psychological phenomenon represents a challenge on account of their apparently disparate natures but is nevertheless an enterprise capable of offering great literary and artistic satisfaction to both the reader and the author.
