Summary/Abstract: Although there are not many children in Shakespeare’s plays, his treatment of them is quite unique, both for his own time and today. Shakespeare’s children are authentic selves who frequently possess extraordinary intellect and vision. Shakespeare’s introduction of child characters as victims highlights his implicit condemnation of violence as embodied in people in power.
