Summary/Abstract: The notion of displacement, be it conceived psychologically, culturally or geographically, places individuals in general and women in particular in a position of exteriority, outside the main discourse of the centre. Considering the close link between gender and space, the paper discusses issues of gender and geographical marginality/exile in Kiran Desai’s novel The Inheritance of Loss.
